Eye Care and Targeted Treatments
Why the eye area needs special attention, how to choose and apply eye products, plus targeted approaches for lips and specific trouble spots.

The skin around your eyes is the thinnest and most delicate on your entire face. It has fewer oil glands, less collagen, and moves constantly through blinking and expression. This combination makes it one of the first areas to show signs of aging and one of the areas that benefits most from dedicated, targeted care.
Why Eye Cream Is Worth It
Eye creams are formulated specifically for the thin, sensitive skin around the eyes. They tend to be lighter than face moisturizers, free of potentially irritating ingredients, and enriched with peptides, caffeine, or antioxidants that address common eye area concerns. While a regular moisturizer will provide some benefit, a dedicated eye product is calibrated for this uniquely vulnerable area.
The three most common eye area concerns are fine lines, dark circles, and puffiness. Each has different underlying causes, and the right product depends on which concern is most prominent for you.
Choosing Your Eye Product
- For fine lines: look for peptides, retinol at eye-safe concentrations, and hyaluronic acid. These support collagen and keep the skin plump.
- For dark circles: caffeine temporarily constricts blood vessels and reduces darkness. Vitamin C and niacinamide help with pigmentation-based dark circles over time.
- For puffiness: caffeine is again the go-to ingredient for its ability to reduce fluid retention. Cooling metal applicators also help.
How to Apply Eye Product
- Use your ring finger. It naturally applies the lightest pressure. Take a tiny amount of product, about the size of a grain of rice for each eye.
- Tap along the orbital bone. Start at the inner corner beneath the eye and tap gently outward following the bone. Never pull, drag, or rub.
- Include the upper lid if desired. Some eye creams are suitable for the upper lid area too. Tap gently across the brow bone.
Lip Care
The skin on your lips has no sebaceous glands and a very thin barrier, which is why lips dry out and chap so easily. Daily lip care is simple: apply a hydrating lip balm with ingredients like shea butter, ceramides, or lanolin throughout the day, and use a thicker lip mask or sleeping balm overnight for deeper repair.
Avoid lip products with menthol, camphor, or salicylic acid for daily use. These create a tingling sensation that feels like they are working, but they can actually irritate the lip surface and perpetuate the cycle of dryness and chapping.

Spot Treatments and Targeted Care
Beyond the eyes and lips, certain areas of the face may need targeted products. Post-acne dark spots respond to concentrated brightening serums applied directly to the mark. Dry patches around the nose or chin benefit from a dab of heavier moisturizer. Rough texture on the forehead may respond to a localized application of a gentle exfoliating serum.
The principle is simple: use your general routine for the whole face and add targeted products only where specific concerns need extra attention. This avoids over-treating areas that are already healthy.
Yasmine face yoga includes exercises specifically designed for the eye area, strengthening the orbicularis oculi and improving circulation to reduce puffiness and support the skin around the eyes. Combined with a good eye cream, this targeted approach addresses eye area concerns from both the inside and the outside.
