4. AI Features & Data Processing
Yasmine uses artificial intelligence powered by Google AI models to provide personalized recommendations, skin analysis, and other intelligent features. When you use AI-powered features:
- Your relevant data (such as profile information, preferences, and uploaded content) may be processed by our AI systems to generate personalized outputs.
- Your personal data is not used to train third-party AI models. Any data sent to AI service providers is processed solely to deliver functionality to you.
- AI outputs are generated algorithmically and may contain inaccuracies. They are provided for informational purposes only and should not be considered medical, dermatological, or professional advice.
- We may use de-identified and aggregated data from AI interactions to improve the quality and accuracy of our features.
5. Health, Biometric & Face Photo Data Protections
We treat your health, biometric, and face photo data with the highest level of care:
- Never Used for Advertising: Health data, biometric data and face photos are never used for advertising, marketing, or sold to third parties.
- Face Photo Handling:Face scan photos and progress photos are stored on your own device, not on Yasmine's servers. When you ask for a skin analysis, the photo is sent to our AI provider solely to generate your report, and is not retained by them or used to train their models. On TrueDepth iPhones, the 3D face map used for the on-screen scan animation never leaves your device. You can delete your photos at any time, and deleting your account or the app removes them.
- Biometric Data: Where applicable law treats facial geometry or skin analysis data as biometric data, we process such data only with your informed consent and in accordance with applicable biometric privacy laws.
5.1 Face Data
This section describes, in full, how the App collects, uses, discloses, shares, stores, retains and deletes face data.
What face data we collect, and why
When you use the face scan feature, we collect a photograph of your face that you capture with your device's camera after you give explicit consent on screen. We also record two non-identifying technical values from that capture: how bright the scene was, and whether your device supports depth capture. These two values are used only to tell you whether the lighting was good enough to analyse.
On iPhones with a TrueDepth camera, ARKit face geometry is used to draw the live scan animation you see in the camera preview. That geometry is processed on your device only and never leaves it.
How we use and disclose face data
Your face photo is used for one purpose: to generate your personal skin-wellness report, which describes cosmetic observations such as hydration, texture and evenness. We do not use face data for face recognition, identity matching or authentication, and we do not create a face template or faceprint. We do not use face data for advertising, marketing or profiling, we do not use it to train any model, and we never sell it. We do not disclose face data to anyone other than the AI provider described below, except where we are required to by law.
Sharing, and protection by third parties
One third party receives your face photo: Google, which provides the AI model (Gemini, accessed through Firebase AI Logic) that generates your report. Google processes the image solely to return that report, does not retain it once the request is complete, and does not use it to train its models.
Any third party with whom we share face data is required to provide the same or equal protection of that face data as is stated in this privacy policy.
Storage and retention
Your face photos are stored on your own device, in the App's private storage. They are not uploaded to Yasmine's servers. Google retains the image only for the duration of the single request that generates your report.
On your device, a photo is kept so that you can compare your progress over time. The App also removes photos automatically: a scan whose image quality was too poor to analyse is deleted after 24 hours, and a scan that never produced a report is deleted after 7 days.
Depth camera (TrueDepth) data
On iPhones with a TrueDepth camera, the App uses ARKit face tracking to draw the live wireframe animation you see while a scan is running. It is used for that on-screen animation and for nothing else.
The underlying face geometry is processed on your device, in memory, frame by frame. It is never written to storage, never included in your report, and never transmitted to us or to any third party. We do not build a face template or faceprint from it, we do not use it to identify or authenticate anyone, and we do not use it for advertising or marketing. Because it is never stored, there is nothing of it left once a scan finishes.
When you take a scan on one of these devices, the App saves ordinary photographs: your portrait, and a picture of the wireframe as it appeared on screen. These are images, not geometry. They are stored on your device on the same terms as the rest of your face photos described above, and they are deleted in the same ways. Only your portrait is ever sent for analysis; the wireframe picture never leaves your device.
The App also records where your face sits in the frame and how bright the scene was, so that it can tell you whether the shot was well framed and well lit. No depth map and no three-dimensional model of your face is stored, shared or sold.
Withdrawing consent, and deleting your face data
You are asked for your consent before any photo is analysed, and you can decline. If you decline, no photo is sent for analysis. You can withdraw your consent at any time by declining at the next scan, and you can delete your face data at any time by either of the following:
- Deleting your account in the App (Profile → Account → Delete account), which deletes your face scan records and the stored photo files; or
- Deleting the App from your device, which removes all locally stored face data.
Because face photos are stored on your device and are not retained by us or by our AI provider, deleting them on your device removes them completely.
6. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information for monetary consideration. We may share your information in the following circumstances:
- Service Providers: We share data with third-party vendors who help us operate, maintain, and improve the Services (see Section 7). These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and use it only for the purposes we specify.
- Advertising Partners:We may share device identifiers and usage data (but never health or biometric data) with advertising platforms to measure and optimize our ad campaigns. This may constitute a "sale" or "share" under certain US state privacy laws. See Section 10 for opt-out rights.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information when required by law, subpoena, court order, or governmental request, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
- Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
- With Your Consent: We may share information for other purposes when you provide specific consent.
